HOMER TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A 28-year-old Homer Township man has killed himself while fleeing from police investigating a domestic disturbance yesterday afternoon.
The Albion Department of Public Safety responded to the disturbance shortly before 1 p.m. and the suspect left the scene, returning to his home.
The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office saw him arrive home around 1:15 p.m. and run into a cornfield.
They used a K9 and a drone to search for him, and another resident told them they saw him running between fields with a handgun.
He was then spotted by deputies near the intersection of 25 1/2 Mile Road and R Drive South where he came out from behind a tree with a handgun and fired one shot, killing himself.
The man’s name has not been released.
