Sports was also on the mind of local elected officials this week.

Council member Jihan Young.
It was also a big topic at the Kalamazoo Public Schools board meeting last night, because both Loy Norrix and Kalamazoo Central high schools also have winning records and are shooting for the playoffs.
Superintendent Darrin Slade.
Trustee Patti Sholler-Barber says sports can be a powerful motivator for some kids to stay in school.
Sports may not be as important as politics, but they are a lot more fun.
