LANSING, MI — Lansing’s newest low-cost carrier departs on its first flight from Capital Region International airport today. Breeze Airways will begin flying nonstop service to Fort Meyers, Fla. The carrier launched nonstop flights to Orlando last night.
A special ribbon cutting event happens today at the airport at 12:45 p.m. The airport welcomes more than 352,000 visitors each year to connect throughout the country and the world, which will now include nonstop service to Fort Meyers. Those flights are weekly on Thursday and Sunday.
Capital Region International Airport executives, local dignitaries, business and civic leaders and Breeze Airways executives will celebrate the start of the new nonstop air service with numerous inaugural flight activities including a water salute and other festivities, according to a press release.
Breeze Airlines will be the fourth passenger airline service operating from the airport. Delta currently offers nonstop service to Detroit Metro Airport (DTW); American Airlines offers nonstop service to Washington, D.C. (DCA) and Chicago (ORD); and Apple Vacations this winter will again offer nonstop service to Mexico, Punta Cana, Dominican Republic and Montego Bay, Jamaica.
