COVERT TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Nuclear Regulatory Commission says the Palisades Nuclear Power Plant needs repairs on its steam generators, additional inspections and repairs, and testing if it is to be restarted.
Holtec International wants to get the plant running again after it was shut down in May 2022.
It would be the first nuclear power plant ever restarted in the U.S. if they are successful.
The federal government committed $1.5-billion to Palisades to restart it.
Holtec has a goal of having it running again by next August.
