KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Michigan House Minority Leader Matt Hall is among the Republicans upset by the state Supreme Court ruling this summer that raised the minimum wage to $12 an hour next year and eliminated tipped employee minimum wage.
The court ruled the then-majority Republicans violated the state constitution with their “adopt-and-amend” strategy for a ballot initiative to raise the minimum wage.
They did that and kept the question from being on the statewide ballot, lowering the minimum wage raise and keeping tipped employees wages lower.
Hall says lawmakers need to take action.
The Richland Republican believes restaurant prices will rise on average 30% as a result.
Hall spoke to WKZO Mornings with Ken Lanphear.
