BATTLE CREEK, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – WK Kellogg has announced plans to invest in new infrastructure, equipment, technology, and capabilities at three of its plants including the one in Battle Creek but they are planning to close its facility in Omaha, Nebraska and streamline another in Memphis, Tennessee.
The moves in Omaha and Memphis will cost 550 workers their jobs.
The company plans to increase prodution in Battle Creek as well as in Belleville, Ontario; and Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
WK Kellogg plans to have a phased reduction in production at the Omaha facility beginning in late 2025 with full closure toward the end of 2026.
The company also plans to scale back production in its Memphis, Tennessee facility commencing in late 2025 which according to a company news release will result in a more focused, streamlined facility and is part of a widespread plan to modernize the brand’s supply chain.
The plant in Omaha has operated for over 60 years.
