BEDFORD TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Police and firefighters have rescued 16 kayakers who were stranded in the Kalamazoo River last evening near Battle Creek.
Several of them had tipped over in their kayaks in Bedford Township near River Road and Fort Custer Drive.
Police used drones to help find the group and had rescued them all after about 90 minutes.
No one was hurt and some of them were able to make it to shore on their own.
The river was at a high level due to recent rain.
