KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Kalamazoo Public Schools have released the names of the three finalists the board will interview today for the vacant position on the board.
Bobby Boyd, Juanita Yvonne Payton, and Alicia Swift were selected from the nine candidates who applied.
Trustee Jermaine Jackson resigned on June 13 and whomever is picked will serve the rest of his term through December.
The interviews will start at 6 p.m. and the board is likely to make their selection for the vacant seat after those are done tonight.
Boyd is active in the Kalamazoo Community Foundation, Metropolitan Kalamazoo Branch of the NAACP and Southwest Michigan First.
Payton is a former Kalamazoo Public Schools teacher, principal, and assistant superintendent of elementary schools. She is involved in several area organizations including Delta Sigma Theta sorority, Kalamazoo Links, Family Health Center, and the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts.
Swift works for the state of Michigan and has a public health background. She has had leadership roles in the Northside Association for Community Development, Rootead Enrichment Center and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated.
