KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Western Michigan University trustees have approved a 4.5% increase in their tuition rates for the upcoming school year, the maximum amount allowed by the state of Michigan.
The board acted yesterday.
Vice president for finance Jan Van Der Kley says the incoming freshman will pay about $650 more than last year’s enrollees.
Audio PlayerThat’s just part of what it will cost. VP for student services Diane Anderson says room and board rates for on-campus housing will be going up 5% in the residence halls.

The WMU tuition hike for undergrads is higher than they will be paying in East Lansing or Ann Arbor this fall, but the total amount will be lower.
