LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Attorney General Dana Nessel’s case against Enbridge over the company’s oil pipeline in the Straits of Mackinac has been sent to state court by a federal appellate panel.
Nessel is seeking to shut down the pipeline and get the Canadian company to stop its plans to build a tunnel for it.
Former Governor Rick Snyder approved the tunnel before leaving office, but she filed a lawsuit in 2019 trying to void the 1953 easement that allowed the pipeline to be built on the lakebed.
Enbridge moved the lawsuit to federal court in December 2021.
