BATTLE CREEK, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – Battle Creek Police say two men are in custody following an apparent breaking and entering at the former Graphic Packaging Plant early Monday morning.
Police say they have been monitoring the former plant at 79 East Fountain Street following reports of break-ins over the past few weeks and the stealing of scrap metal worth several thousand dollars.
Police spotted the suspects, later identified as a 35-year-old Battle Creek man and a 40-year-old Ceresco man, break into the property at around 3:00 a.m. Monday morning.
According to a police department news release, the men were arrested after officers found them stealing additional scrap metal from the site.
Police would like to remind neighbors that the former Graphic Packaging Plant is not vacant and has contractors working inside therefore, no one is permitted on the property without permission.
