ORANGEVILLE TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Barry County Sheriff’s Office says a 34-year-old man from Plainwell is dead after his motorcycle slammed into a van in Barry County’s Orangeville Township Wednesday afternoon.
The preliminary investigation showed the motorcycle was traveling west bound on 9 Mile Rd at a high rate of speed when it collided with the van turning on to 9 Mile Rd from LaFountaine Drive around 12:45 p.m.
The motorcyclist was ejected from the motorcycle and was found unresponsive. Despite lifesaving efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the van, a 72-year-old female from Plainwell, was not injured. A passenger in the van, a 52-year-old male from Plainwell, had minor injuries that were treated on scene.
Speed is believed to be a factor. The crash remains under investigation.
