SPRINGFIELD, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department is investigating what they are calling an attempted child abduction that took place Monday afternoon in Springfield.
The Sheriff’s Office says they responded to the 300 Block of Avenue C at about 1:30 p.m..
According to a Sheriff’s Office news release, a 10-year-old girl indicated an unknown man approached her and attempted to lure her into his pickup truck.
He was described as a middle age white male who is reported to have a black beard. He also has tattoos on his arms and legs, and piercings on his eyebrows, nose, and lips.
He was last seen driving a white Ford pickup truck eastbound on Avenue C away from the scene, is reported to have a black cap over the bed and black rims.
Deputies canvassed the immediate area but were unable to find the man. They also checked with area residents in attempts to gain further information or video surveillance.
The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau is assisting in the investigation.
The Traffic Safety Unit and additional deputies are being utilized for extra patrols in the area and surrounding areas of the City of Springfield.
