DETROIT, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Pro-Palestinian demonstrators are facing charges after police cleared a protest encampment on Wayne State University’s Detroit campus.
Officers moved in Thursday morning and arrested at least 13 people, as crews hired by the university dismantled the encampment.
Protesters had hoped to get the university to divest from companies involved in Israel’s war in Gaza.
The decision to call for police action came after protesters and university officials failed to reach an agreement. Multiple efforts to get the two sides to meet reportedly stalled.
