KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Tomorrow night, Kalamazoo County commissioners will discuss whether to tap into their remaining COVID-19 dollars to help with disaster relief efforts in Portage, Pavilion, and Texas townships following the May 7th tornado. They have just over $1-million still unspent from their ARPA fund after two proposed projects fell through.
The city of Portage has contracted with a private firm, College H.U.N.K.S., to begin solid waste pick-ups in the storm damaged area beginning on May 29th.
Gryphon Place has set up a location to leave donations at 9246 Portage Industrial Drive for distribution to impacted families and plans a session at the Zhang Senior Center for this Friday, for homeowners to consult with agencies offering assistance.
