KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Gilmore says it has received a $2 million gift from John and Rosemary Brown that will provide support in perpetuity for Gilmore Festival events.
The gift was made in honor of The Gilmore’s director emeritus, Daniel Gustin, who was director from 2000 to 2018.
The family foundation made a 10-year commitment to the initiative in 2015 as they wanted to honor Gustin while he was the active director.
Rosemary Brown says what The Gilmore is doing right now “is so significant” and they value the opportunity it provides for concert attendees, up-and-coming artists and remote audiences who can now stream many of the concerts.
The Gilmore was created in 1989 and its biennial piano festival was first held in 1991.
