KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Six non-profits in Kalamazoo, Branch, and St. Joseph counties are sharing $77,500 in grants from the Consumers Energy Foundation.
Angela Thompkins is a vice president with the utility and tells WKZO Mornings with Ken Lanphear the foundation exists to help the community.
Four tornadoes hit the area last Tuesday, two of them being EF-2 twisters that hit Kalamazoo, St. Joseph, and Branch counties. Hundreds of homes were damaged in the storm.
The non-profits that are being helped are: the American Red Cross; Kalamazoo County Foundation; United Way of Southcentral Michigan; United Way of St. Joseph County; Kalamazoo Salvation Army; and Branch County Community Foundation.
