KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Around 4,000 runners took part in the annual Zeigler Kalamazoo Marathon and other races yesterday.
The full marathon and marathon relay started at 7:00 a.m. with the half marathon starting at 8:30 a.m. and the 10K and 5K runs started later.
Officials say all the marathon winners were from Michigan.
From the Kalamazoo area, Michelle Magagna of Portage finished fourth in the women’s race, Kalamazoo natives Matt Norman and Andrew Wright came in second and third in the half marathon, Loida Escobar of Vicksburg, Jeremy Vainavicz of Portage, and Dominick French of Plainwell were the first three to finish the 10K. and the top three in the 5K, Marek Butkiewicz, Carter Hausman, and Sean Siems, are from Kalamazoo.
The marathon is a qualifying event for the Boston Marathon.
