PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Folks petitioning the Portage city council to approve a resolution calling for a ceasefire in Gaza haven’t given up.
They not only provided the council with a proposed draft of the resolution, but with an alternative, to divest their portfolios of stocks in any companies that might be supporting what they call the “Israeli genocide.”
In her strongest response yet, Mayor Patricia Randall says the council just doesn’t do this kind of thing, and to accuse them of complicity is unfair.
The city of Kalamazoo, Kalamazoo County, and Kalamazoo Township boards all quickly approved resolutions after they also found themselves inundated with requests last fall.
It took the council an hour to get through public comment last night as 15 people urged them to pass the resolution. They have appeared at every meeting since last October.
This is not any of our business to get involved in. We are involved in too much already. Israel was attacked, and did not start this. Hamas needs to be punished and they are hiding behind all these people in Gaza. I feel sad for everyone.
Are these people frigging nuts??? Like anyone’s gonna listen to tge small town government in Portage! Lol
