RICHLAND MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A two vehicle accident Friday afternoon in Richland Township resulted in the death of one person.
Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a report of an accident on M 89 near N. 30th St at around 2:20 p.m.
Upon arrival, they found Richland Township Fire personnel administering first aid to a victim.
The 85-year-old was unresponsive when fire officials arrived, and despite life saving effort, the person was pronounced dead at the scene.
Initial investigation indicated that one vehicle was traveling west bound on M-89 when the driver lost control of the vehicle and slid into the east bound lane.
It then struck an east bound vehicle, with injuries reported to a second person, a 46-year-old from Holland.
At this time the accident is still under investigation, and M-89 was reopened for traffic around 4:00 p.m.
