DETROIT, MI — General Motors Co. will deliver profit-sharing payouts of up to $12,250 this year to about 45,000 eligible hourly workers, including thousands of employees in the Lansing area, according to the company’s financial results released Tuesday morning.
Employees usually receive the payouts at the end of February.
Here is how profit-sharing works: For every $1 billion GM makes in North America, the automaker’s hourly U.S. employees receive a $1,000 bonus, according to the latest GM-UAW agreement. GM made about $12.3 billion in profit in North America last year.
