EAST LANSING, MI — The Michigan State Spartans men’s basketball team better start trying to dig themselves out of this Big Ten hole they are in. The Spartans lost to Illinois 71-68 on Thursday night. The Spartans are looking up at the rest of the league with a 1-4 record, tied with Michigan for the worst Big Ten.
Tyson Walker led the Spartans with 17 points on 17 shots. A.J. Hoggard added 15 points, six rebounds and three assists. Malik Hall posted 14 points and seven rebounds after being held scoreless against Northwestern last Sunday.
Michigan State (9-7, 1-4 Big Ten) next will return home to host Rutgers Sunday at Breslin Center.
