LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity’s Office of Rural Prosperity is giving a total of $852,000 in grants to 19 rural community projects.
The grants will support and invest in underserved areas and populations by providing reimbursement grant funding for several activities and initiatives.
The projects being supported will address childcare needs; housing, development readiness, and emergency preparedness; and general capacity-building activities for governments, economic development organizations, and more.
Beautify Pullman in Allegan County will receive $40,357 for non-motorized planning and pedestrian safety improvements.
Michigan State University’s Center for Community and Economic Development will get $50,000 for a pilot model and scaled fellowship addressing economic resiliency in Calhoun, Allegan, and Cass counties in west Michigan along with Saginaw and Baraga counties.
