KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A 41-year-old Kalamazoo man faces multiple drug charges, after police investigating drug distribution recovered multiple ounces of fentanyl and cocaine Friday
The Southwest Enforcement Team (SWET), along with multiple other agencies, went to the Stadium Drive Apartments on Lakesedge Drive with a search warrant following several months of investigation into the distribution of heroin and fentanyl.
During the search, detectives found a 9mm handgun, roughly 2.5 ounces of fentanyl and 4.5 ounces of cocaine.
The man, whose named hasn’t been released, was arrested on a bond conditions violation from a previous assault charge.
SWET says additional charges will be sought for possession with the intent to deliver fentanyl and cocaine, delivery of fentanyl and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
SWET is funded in part by the Michigan HIDTA (High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area) as well as the U.S. Department of Justice, Byrne JAG grant. SWET is comprised of sworn law enforcement officers from the Allegan County Sheriff’s Office, Berrien County Sheriff’s Office, Benton Harbor Department of Public Safety, Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office, Kalamazoo Township Police Department, Michigan State Police and Portage Department of Public Safety.
