PAVILION TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Two suspects that police say were involved in a Kalamazoo County home invasion robbery Sunday night are now in custody.
Around 9:00 p.m. Sunday Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to the 6600 block of Colgrove Drive in Pavilion Township on a report of a home invasion robbery and shots fired inside a residence. On arrival, deputies located several subjects inside the residence and advised that three suspects entered the place, all armed with handguns, attempting to rob them.
The homeowner reportedly fled to a back bedroom when the suspects began shooting at him. During the gunfire two nearby residences were also struck by gunfire.
No injuries were reported. Upon investigating, Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Deputies developed the identity of one of the subjects involved in the robbery.
Monday the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division located two subjects they believe were involved in the home invasion robbery, leaving a girlfriend’s apartment and getting into a vehicle. Detectives followed the car and were assisted by the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety and Western Michigan University Public Safety with a traffic stop on the vehicle.
Once the car was stopped, the two suspects took off running from the vehicle, but were apprehended by officers, who recovered two firearms.
Both suspects were arrested and transported to the Kalamazoo County Jail and are charged with Home Invasion, Assault with Intent, Felony Firearm, and Carrying a Concealed Weapon.
