EAST LANSING, MI– It’s been a tumultuous week for the Michigan State University Board of Trustees.
Through allegations of bullying and ethical violations leveled at the Michigan State University Board chairperson, Rema Vassar, which caused Gov. Gretchen Whitmer to weigh in, to a rebuttal from Vassar saying it’s nothing more than an old school political hit job.
Trustee Brianna Scott sent the board a note last weekend accusing Vassar of 10 separate allegations, including bullying, releasing confidential information and other complaints. She called on Vassar to resign immediately.
Vassar has refused, even though a sitting U.S. Senator has also called on her to resign. The MSU faculty senate also has called on the board chair to resign.
The board of trustees meets this morning on campus in the administration building. Discussion of Vassar’s behavior is not listed on the meeting agenda, but could be discussed during the public comment period.
