LANSING, MI — Ingham County prosecutors say 15-year-old Lamar Kemp of Lansing is now lodged at the Ingham County Jail for homicide. Kemp is charged with shooting and killing a man in Lansing on Sunday.
Ingham County Prosecutor John DeWane on Wednesday charged 15-year-old Lamar Kemp with multiple charges related to the shooting death of 63-year-old Ted Lawson. Kemp is being held without bond. He’s facing felony firearm, carrying a concealed weapon and a murder charge. The local prosecutor says Kemp’s previous history with the court system and the gravity of the accused crime led him to charge Kemp as an adult.
Lansing Police say Lawson was shot Sunday afternoon in the 1100 block of North Jenison Ave., while he was going door-to-door canvassing for a Lansing City Council candidate.
