(Reuters) -Moises Caicedo and Mykhailo Mudryk will be included in Chelsea’s squad for the Premier League game at Burnley, after both were injury concerns following the most recent game, manager Maurico Pochettino said on Friday.
Mudryk was replaced at halftime in the 2-0 win over Fulham on Monday while Caicedo went down holding his knee and was taken off in the final minutes of that game.
“Yes, both are in the squad, we will decide later whether they have a chance of starting,” Pochettino told reporters ahead of Saturday’s game.
“This week they trained well, I still have not decided. I need to check with the medical staff as I came straight from the training pitch.”
Mudryk scored his first goal for Chelsea in the game against Fulham, a much-needed boost for a side who only managed five goals in their six Premier League games before that.
“He is improving like all of the players. Every single player has special circumstances,” Pochettino said.
“In three months we try to help, to train, it’s a big job to try to understand everyone and to apply things that we believe can help the individual to perform.”
Armando Broja is another player who scored his first goal of the season in Monday’s win, in his second league game since returning from a cruciate ligament injury.
“We know now for three months when you start to feel the player in a training session you can feel the potential. Now it’s about how he recovers,” the Argentine manager said.
“He is a very talented player, we trust him, that’s why he played against Fulham, and maybe tomorrow.”
The manager now has a decision to make for the Burnley game, stick with Broja or bring back Nicolas Jackson who missed Monday’s game through suspension.
“We already took the decision and they know. You will see tomorrow,” Pochettino said.
Chelsea have yet to win two consecutive league games this season, but after the victory over Fulham, which followed a League Cup win over Brighton & Hove Albion, the manager will hope his side can continue their current form.
“It’s a good opportunity to win again and to feel the victory and for us the three points are important,” he said.
“Of course we want momentum. We would go to the international break with a different feeling to the last one, it is really important to win the game.”
Chelsea, 11th in the standings on eight points, travel to Burnley who are 18th with four points.
