KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Graphic Packaging International and state officials are asking a federal judge to dismiss a lawsuit from neighbors of the paper packaging plant in Kalamazoo. They have sued over their health problems that they say have been caused by pollution from the plant. Attorneys for the company and the Michigan Attorney General’s Office say the claims are not specific and don’t meet required standards set by laws such as the Clean Air Act. Neighbors have complained about the smell from the plant for decades and the state has served the facility with several odor violation notices.
