PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A portion of a Portage neighborhood now under a boil water advisory.
The City of Portage issuing the advisory on Wednesday, August 23 following a water main break that occurred at the intersection of Tattersall Road and Robinson Street.
A news release from the city states that during the repairs, it became necessary to depressurize a section of the water main. Because of this, some customers in the area have been advised with a door tag to boil their tap water for a minimum of one minute prior to use for drinking, brushing teeth, or cooking.
City officials say the boil water advisory is a precautionary measure, and that the city will flush and collect bacteriological samples from the water main before lifting the advisory.
Customers in the affected area will be notified once the advisory is lifted.
