PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Portage Public Schools has launched a new website and mobile app to streamline communication with families, staff and the community.
“We know that for most families, their phones are their primary means of communication,” said Community Relations Manager Michelle Karpinski. “So, we created an app and mobile-friendly website to better serve staff, students and families.”
On the app itself, students, families, and community can read the latest announcements, locate staff contact information, review upcoming events, and find important documents for the District and their school. Families can also sign up for notifications through the app to be notified of snow days, emergencies or other critical information.
“It’s everything PPS, in your pocket,” says Karpinski.
Another important new feature is the ability for District and school communications to be translated to a family’s language of choice. When signing up for the new app, families can select their preferred language to receive important notifications. Families can also translate the website into their chosen language using the translate button at the top-right corner of the homepage.
“We are very excited to make this improvement for our families and look forward to utilizing the tool to keep families better informed,” said Karpinski.
