BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The City of Battle Creek’s Department of Public Works is set to hold it’s second annual open house and touch-a-truck event from 4-6 p.m. on Tuesday, August 22, in the department’s front parking lot, 150 S. Kendall Street.
City officials say the public is invited to get an up-close look at life’s items provided by public works that many may take for granted from fresh drinking water, treated wastewater, maintained streets and more. They go onto say that the public works team will welcome those who attend with:
- Many of the city vehicles that help them accomplish their mission, to include a plow truck, Republic Services waste truck, street sweeper, and backhoe.
The public will get to learn about what these vehicles do, and climb inside for a new perspective. - Demonstrations, including our Water team racing the clock to build a fire hydrant, what it looks like inside a sewer pipe, and step up to a traffic signal.
- Fun giveaways! Pick up a bucket of city-made compost! Take the recycling challenge! Pick up a water droplet stress ball and other city swag items, while supplies last!
- Free snacks and restrooms will be available as well.
