HOWARD TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A Dowagiac man succumbed to his injuries when he lost control and crashed his motorcycle early Monday morning, August 14.
According to the Michigan State Police Niles Post, it happened around 2 a.m. on M-51 near Maple Lane in Cass County’s Howard Township.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the 43-year-old rider was traveling northbound on M-51 towards Dowagiac when he veered off the roadway, lost control, and hit an embankment.
Investigators also say the rider was then thrown from the motorcycle upon impact and was later pronounced deceased at the scene. They went onto say that it was unknown why or what caused the motorcycle to leave the roadway, but it did appear that the rider was not wearing a helmet.
MSP says it’s unknown at this time if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash which remains under investigation.
