KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Kalamazoo Salvation Army is set to open a state-of-the-art facility to assist emergency disaster support.
The organization will officially open its new Emergency Services Hub on Thursday, August 10.
The facility is located at 1441 Davis Creek Court, and will help streamline multi-agency emergency response, as well as provide essential temporary housing for emergency service personnel.
The hub has been a primary goal for Lt. Col. Richard Vanderwheele, a dedicated Salvation Army Officer with over 30 years of service, and will provide the highest level of emergency services support.

Thousands of people throughout Kalamazoo County and surrounding areas receive assistance each year through the services of the Salvation Army that range from providing food for the hungry, financial relief for rent and utilities, long term social services programs, outreach to the elderly, and opportunities for underprivileged children.
88 cents of every dollar The Salvation Army spends is used to support those services.
