LANSING, MI — It looks like most of southern Michigan escaped the worst of the latest round of thunderstorms. The National Weather Service isn’t reporting any damage from the storms, though the heavy rains did leave several rivers, creeks, and streams flooded.
The NWS says about three inches of rain fell in the Lansing area overnight. Wind gusts of up to 60 mph did knock out power to some mid-Michigan residents. The Lansing Board of Water and Light and Consumers Energy both say they are working to restore power in a few spots.
The Jackson area saw significantly less rain. Some reports from that area show only several tenths of rain last night. Weather forecasters say mid-Michigan will dry out for a few days. A mix of sun and clouds is expected for Thursday.
