LANSING, MI — Federal prosecutors say there’s a text link between Rashad Trice and two-year-old Wynter Cole-Smith’s death earlier this month. The FBI yesterday told a judge in Trice’s case that he texted Wynter’s mother and said ‘I have to end this,’ and that ‘she’s gone.’
Trice is charged with kidnapping ending in death, and could possibly face the death penalty if convicted. Investigators say Trice is Wynter’s mother’s ex-boyfriend. Prosecutors say he attacked Wynter’s mom, sexually assaulting her and stabbing her, before taking the little girl and eventually killing her.
