JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Authorities believe alcohol to be a factor in a two-vehicle crash in Cass County that sent two people to the hospital on Saturday, May 20.
Cass County Sheriff’s deputies responding to the crash around 11:44 p.m. on M-60 southwest of Dailey Road in Jefferson Township.
Initial investigation showed that a Jeep Compass, driven by a 28-year-old Granger Indiana woman, was heading northwest on M-60 when it crossed the center line hitting a Subaru Legacy, driven by a 60-year-old Niles woman.
The driver of the Subaru driver was taken to Lakeland Niles Hospital, and a 30-year-old male who was a passenger in the Jeep, was taken to South Bend Memorial Hospital.
Deputies confirmed that all parties were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash which remains under investigation.
Assisting agencies on scene were the Cassopolis Fire Department, PrideCare Ambulance Service, and the SMCAS Ambulance Service.
