KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Michigan Department of State along with state and community partners are set to host a Road to Restoration clinic in Kalamazoo on Friday, May 12.
Organizers say the walk-in clinic will aim to help drivers with suspended licenses determine what steps they need to take to restore their driving privileges.
In 2021, new state laws lifted suspensions for drivers who failed to pay tickets or court fines, or failed to appear in court, and for certain non-moving and other violations. Officials say while the new laws lifted suspensions for more than 150,000 Michiganders, many must still take further action.
The clinic takes place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church at 120 Roberson Street in Kalamazoo. Attendees are encouraged to purchase a copy of their driving record for $12 either at the clinic or online at Michigan.gov/SOS.
Officials go onto say that the clinic will not provide DUI/OWI expungement services and that license reinstatement is not guaranteed.
The clinic is being held in partnership with DTE Energy, Miller Canfield Law Firm, Detroit Justice Center, Michigan Association of United Ways, and Michigan 2-1-1, as well as location partners.
Michiganders who believe they may qualify to have their license reinstated or who have a question about their driving history can get more information or sign up for an upcoming clinic near them at Michigan.gov/RoadtoRestoration
