Names of 2 people killed in Portage crash released by police

PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Police have released the names of two people killed in a fatal crash last week in Portage.

60-year-old Cindy Richmond of Portage and 20-year-old Gabriel Alonzo of Kalamazoo were killed in the two-vehicle crash at the intersection of South Sprinkle Road and East Milham Avenue around 8:50 p.m. on Tuesday, April 25.

According to Portage Public Safety, Richmond was in a silver Hyundai Sonata when she attempted a left turn onto East Milham Avenue from southbound South Sprinkle Road and was struck by a white Dodge Charger traveling north.

Alonzo, who was the occupant of the Charger, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver of the Charger was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Richmond, the driver of the Sonata, was taken to the hospital in critical condition where she later died.
