KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A portion of Sprinkle Road in Kalamazoo County is getting ready to get a facelift.
The Road Commission of Kalamazoo County announced on Tuesday, March 28 that crews will perform construction on South Sprinkle Road between I-94 and North Kilgore Road starting Monday, April 3.
Road Commission officials say the project will include asphalt milling and resurfacing, ramp upgrades, curb and gutter work, and storm sewer improvements. They went onto say that while a single lane in both directions is expected to stay open throughout the duration of the project, motorists should expect possible delays and follow all posted detours.
Also as a part of the work, Sprinkle Road at the railroad crossing is scheduled for complete closure for about 2 to 3 weeks between May 1 and May 20 for the railroad company to perform railroad crossing improvements. Officials say traffic will be detoured to Cork Street, Portage Road, and Kilgore Road during this time.
A project informational meeting will be held Wednesday, March 29 at 6:00 pm. at the Road Commission of Kalamazoo County board room, at 3801 East Kilgore Road. Those unable to attend will be able to watch it later online at: https://www.kalamazoocountyroads.com/projects.php
Work is scheduled to be completed by June 23, weather permitting.
