BATTLE CREEK, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – What is being called an accidental cooking fire caused over $122,000 worth of damage on Monday morning at 27 East Bidwell Street in Battle Creek.
The Battle Creek Fire Department says the fire in the occupied home was reported at 8:45 a.m..
There was heavy brown smoke coming from several windows of the home when firefighters arrived.
No one was found inside when crews did a search of the home.
Heavy fire damage was reported in a first floor kitchen which is where the blaze started. There was also heavy smoke throughout the home.
After the fire was brought under control, crews worked on salvage and overhaul. No firefighters or civilians were injured.
