POTRLAND, MI — Michigan State Police are still investigating the cause of a 150-vehicle pileup Saturday afternoon on Interstate 96 near Portland.
The crashes closed the highway in both directions for several hours from 5:30 p.m. until 10:45 p.m. MSP says 84 cars were damaged and 66 others slid off the road and were not damaged. Road conditions were treacherous with white out conditions at the time of hte accident, police say.
Sixteen people were taken to a hospital with a variety of injuries, but troopers say no one was killed.
