KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Despite dropping a pair of games to Colorado College in the opening round of the NCHC Tournament, the Western Michigan University men’s hockey team was able to retain its top-10 ranking in the nation this week.
The Broncos are No. 9 in both the DCU/USCHO.com and USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine polls. St. Cloud State and Ohio State leaped over WMU in the USCHO poll, while just the Buckeyes moved in front of Western Michigan in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine rankings.
The NCHC had Denver, St. Cloud State and Western Michigan in the top 10.
The Broncos are waiting to learn their NCAA Tournament seeding, which will occur on March 19. ESPNU and ESPN+ will announce the entire 16-team field beginning at 6:30 p.m. EDT.
Western Michigan made the tournament as a No. 1 seed last season.
