CASS COUNTY, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A driver on the run for an attempted homicide in Elkhart IN was tracked down in Southwest Michigan by a K9 with the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.
It all started around 9:26 p.m. on Tuesday, February 20 when sheriff’s deputies responded to a vehicle pursuit which started in Elkhart. They were also informed of the attempted homicide incident as they pursued the driver into Cass County, continuing approximately 13 miles northbound into the Village of Cassopolis, then westbound into La Grange Township.
Deputies used several stop sticks disabling the suspect vehicle which came to a stop near a wooded area. The suspect then fled the vehicle and ran into a thick wooded area in a final attempt to escape authorities.
Cass County K9 Neera was then deployed to track the suspect who was hiding in thick underbrush. Neera located the suspect who was then taken into custody.
