KALAMAZOO, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – A tranquil period of weather is expected to end on Wednesday as a strong storm system will bring some dicey conditions to the area.
Calhoun, Jackson and Kalamazoo Counties are included in a Winter Storm Watch from 12 noon Wednesday through 7:00 a.m. on Thursday morning.
National Weather Service forecasters say heavy mixed precipitation is possible with this system.
Those under the watch could see total snow accumulations of up to one inch and ice accumulations of around three tenths of an inch. In addition, winds could gust as high as 45 mph in portions of south central and southwest Michigan.
Forecasters say power outages and tree damage are likely due to the ice and that travel could be nearly impossible.
