KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Kalamazoo County middle and high school students and their families are invited to discover free educational opportunities available through Kalamazoo RESA (KRESA) at a Community Open House hosted in partnership with the Kalamazoo Promise and the Northside Association for Community Development (NACD).
The event will take place Saturday, February 25 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the NACD building at 612 N. Park Street in Kalamazoo.
The event will provide information on programs available not only to students of Kalamazoo Public Schools, but also students across Kalamazoo County and adult family members.
The following KRESA Career Connect programs will be represented:
• Career & Technical Education (CTE) | Innovative, hands-on career training prepares students for the well-paying, high-
demand jobs of the future
• Education for the Arts (EFA) | Arts-intensive courses in theater, music, dance, as well as the visual, media and literary arts,
and more
• Early/Middle College (EMC) | Earn a two-year degree or certificate while dually enrolled at KVCC with an extra year of high
school
• MyCity | A summer youth paid employment program that serves as the gateway to paid internship and work experience.
• CareerNOW | Free, hands-on, short-term career training for individuals interested in obtaining an industry recognized
credential.
In addition, attendees will be able to learn about opportunities through the MiLEAP program at KVCC, which covers training and barrier
removal for job seekers transitioning from short- and mid-term education and training programs to high-skill, high-wage employment
and career pathways.
Organizers say while the event is intended for students of Kalamazoo Public Schools who were unable to participate in the previous Open House event on February 7, all are welcome to attend the Saturday, February 25 event.
