KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – As the City of Kalamazoo repairs several water lines, resulting in a temporary loss of pressure, a precautionary boil water advisory is being issued in several areas through Monday.
The advisory, issued in cooperation with the Kalamazoo County Health and Community Services Department for all water intended for drinking includes:
Nazareth Road – From East G Avenue (northern boundary) to Parchmount Avenue (southern boundary), both sides of the roadway. It does not include the southwest and southeast corners of East G Avenue and Nazareth Road. It also does not include the southwest corner of Parchmount Avenue and Nazareth Road.
Silver Hills Avenue – From Nazareth Road (western boundary) east to the dead end (eastern boundary), both sides of the roadway.
Enterprise Drive- From Silverhill Avenue (northern boundary) southeast to the dead end (eastern boundary), both sides of the roadway.
City officials say this advisory is precautionary only. There have not been any confirmed tests showing bacteria present in the water main at the location of the infrastructure repair. It is expected that the advisory will be lifted within 72 hours (February 13).
Municipal water customers in the affected area are advised to use bottled water or boil their tap water for two minutes prior to use for drinking. No special precautionary measures are necessary for water used for personal hygiene.
A portion of Nazareth Road between G Avenue and Parchmount Avenue closed until Monday for infrastructure repairs, according to the City of Kalamazoo.
