KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A Groundbreaking ceremony for a multi-million dollar housing project in Kalamazoo’s Northside neighborhood is set to take place Friday, February 3 at 4 p.m.
The ceremony will take place at 315 E Frank Street, at the north end of the construction site, located near the intersection of North Pitcher and Myrtle Streets, with parking available off Pitcher and Myrtle Streets near the event site.
City developers say the project will help address the need for housing with 14 new housing units for different income levels, with an on-site childcare center through a partnership with the YMCA of Greater Kalamazoo.
The $4.5 million project received support from the City of Kalamazoo through the Economic Development Corporation, Brownfield Redevelopment Authority, and Foundation for Excellence.
The project is also funded through support from LISC, the Kalamazoo County Housing Millage, Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE), and others.
Bogan Developments is looking to welcome residents to move into the property this fall. Jamauri Bogan, Mayor David Anderson, and other project partners will offer remarks before the ceremonial groundbreaking.
