LANSING, MI — A familiar part of the Christmas season will be back Friday when The Salvation Army officially begins their Red Kettle Season at over 20 businesses in the Greater Lansing area. The Salvation Army – Lansing Capital Area has a goal of raising $950,000 to support Clinton, Ingham, and Eaton County families in need.
Proceeds will stay in the tri-county area to help families and individuals throughout the year as The Salvation Army Provides essential services including rent and utility assistance, food assistance through food pantries and community meals, Early Head Start and Head Start programming, personal needs, and the “Pathway of Hope” program – a holistic, goal-oriented program for families aimed at ending the cycle of poverty and crisis.
“Supporting The Salvation Army at Christmas helps families in our community that are struggling to make ends meet,” said Major Jim Irvine, Lansing Capital Area Coordinator. “It is critical that we receive your help – the money that we receive this time of the year not only supports our Christmas efforts but determines the level of services we’re able to provide for the rest of the year.”
Groups and families can sign up as volunteer bell ringers at the red kettles by visiting www.registertoring.org.
