JACKSON, MI — A computer systems outage impacting classroom technology, phones, heating and more are causing public schools to be closed in Jackson and Hillsdale counties today.
Jackson County Intermediate School District says the outage happened over the weekend and they are working to get everything back online. However, several media outlets are reporting this morning the school systems were hacked during a cyberattack from an outside source.
Superintendent Kevin Oxley says they understand the difficulties their decision to close schools can cause. Jackson Catholic schools will be open today, as they are not on the same system.
